Being a Part
We believe the Boy Scout uniform is our symbol. Wearing the uniform makes a statement about the quality and the aims of every scout who wears it. Wear your uniform proudly!
Wearing of the uniform is required to attend scout functions (including troop meetings) and when traveling to or from scouting events like campouts. Check out pages 12 and 13, and the inside covers of your Boy Scout Handbook (see how handy this book is?). This pretty much shows you how everything fits on the uniform.
The Scout uniform consists of the following:
  • Scout pants (or shorts)
  • Scout socks and belt
  • Scout shirt (long or short sleeve) with all the correct patches
  • The Scout hat is optional but is the ONLY hat which may be worn at troop functions

During the summer months, the troop T-shirt may be substituted for the official scout shirt. The Patrol Leaders Council will let you know when this is appropriate. For special occasions, such as our Court-of-Honor and Parent's Night, each scout must also wear a neckerchief and merit badge sash. (When you join Troop 77, you will be presented with a neckerchief -- so hang in there.)

Troop 77 meets at the First United Methodist Church (305 East Hurd Street Edmond, Oklahoma) every Monday night from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. with two exceptions.
First, we normally do not have meetings in the middle of week-long vacations during the school year, such as Christmas and Spring breaks. Second, the Monday after our campout is the Troop Committee Meeting -- not a regular troop meeting. It's primarily for the adult leaders and interested parents.

The Patrol Leaders Council (PLC) meets once per month, usually at 6:30 p.m. after that month's campout. Changes in that schedule will be announced by the Senior Patrol Leader at the Troop Meetings. The PLC is how the troop operates. Made up of the Senior Patrol Leader (SPL), the Patrol Leaders, Assistant Patrol Leaders, and the SPL's staff, the PLC decides what we do during the troop meetings and campouts and who's going to do it. You may find yourself on the PLC someday and you'll find it's only one of the opportunities you'll have to help those around you, your patrol, your troop and even your Council!
